Family Crest Genealogy
Genealogy is the study and
tracing of family pedigrees. Genealogy, a popular hobby, received a big boost
in the late 1970s with the premiere of the television adaptation of Alex Haley's
fictionalized account of his family line, Roots: The Saga of an American
Family.
|
In its original form, genealogy
was mainly concerned with the ancestry of rulers and nobles, often arguing or
demonstrating the legitimacy of claims to wealth and power. Nowadays, we
can find lost family members, adoptees, birth
families and reunite friends. Many genealogy software programs also offer an
easy method for keeping track of the sources for each fact.
Genealogy, also known as family
history, is an exciting hobby enjoyed by millions of people worldwide. Whether
you've been working on your family history for years or just getting started,
this genealogy site can help jump start your research. We want to help everyone
that visits, and hope to become one of your favorite providers of genealogy and
family history resources. This free genealogy site may be linked to freely for

Family Crests and Surnames
Family names are simultaneously
one of the most important pieces of genealogical information, and a source of
significant confusion for researchers. Genealogists collect oral histories and
preserve family stories to discover ancestors and living relatives. This
involves the collection of the names of relatives, both living and deceased, and
establishing the relationships among them based on primary, secondary and/or
circumstantial evidence or documentation, thus building up a cohesive family
tree. As more of the population began to be recorded, there were sufficient
records to follow a family using the paper trail they left behind. Genealogists
locate these records, wherever they are stored, and extract information to
discover family relationships and recreate timelines of persons' lives.
Records of persons who were
neither royalty nor nobility began to be taken by governments in order to keep
track of their citizens (In most of Europe, for example, this started to take
place in the 16th century). The history of the US Census Records is important
to understand when using it as a resource to trace your ancestors. In order to
get the most information from old genealogy records that are available, you have
to decipher and put meaning into the symbols you will find. You can learn to
find free genealogy records using Google's search. Although census records
remain confidential for 72 years, limited information may be obtained from more
recent counts.
The use of family crests in
Japan is usually said to have started in Heian era (around the year 750), but in
real life even when the capital city of the country was still in Nara (around
600) some people already put on some crests on their belongings. Samurai family
crests used to be emblazoned all over the Heian carts. These unique but
beautiful graphic symbols are the traditional Japanese "family crests" that are
deeply rooted in the life of the people. Also, there family crests for Chinese
surnames. The original models of Japanese crests’ designs were familiar objects
like flowers or Chinese patterns.
